Episode 16 - An Interview with Nolon Ashley

In this interview we speak with my friend Nolon Ashley about his primary musical project Cult of Zir, his psychollages, the artistic process, spirituality, and what is going on in the broader otherworldly art scene in the Pacific Northwest. Nolon is a multimedia artist, musician, and ritualist performer, who has worked in several contexts spanning a diverse spectrum of genre which include avant electronic pop, psychedelic and progressive rock, darkwave, immediatist improvisational experimentalism, and electronic noise.
He has performed as part of bogville creature features, soriah, nequaquam vacuum, power circus, trance to the sun, submarine fleet, societas insomnia, day of the zombie, julian tulip’s licorice, ilias malorum, and an assortment of other collaborative explorations in cascadia’s mutant family of “otherly” inclined artists.
It was great to speak with Nolon again, and we thank him for coming on the show. Intro music by Eric Copeland. Enjoy!

*P.S.* Around the 13th and 16th minutes there are a couple spots where the audio goes out and skips around a bit, but don't be afraid; keep listening, because the rest is golden. These mishaps were purely the tech-goblins' friendly reminder that they are in control, and not us. We sincerely thank them for letting us get on the interwebs and muck about like this. Ahoy!

On this episode we speak with Prof. William Irvine about his newest book, A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy. We go through not only the history and basic tenets of Stoicism, but delve deeply into how William has found this philosophy to be such a potentially important guide to how we live our lives positively and gratefully. It's a very informative and important talk and we wholeheartedly thank Prof. Irvine for coming on the show. Intro/outro music by Eric Copeland. Enjoy!
